Building North America's Next Primary Cobalt Mine

About Us

eCobalt (TSX: ECS) (OTCQX: ECSIF) (FRA: ECO) is an advanced-stage, near-term primary cobalt producer led by a new team of proven mine builders and operators who have successfully led several world-class assets. Our Idaho Cobalt Project ("ICP") is located in the historic Idaho Cobalt Belt, near the town of Salmon in eastern Idaho. As the only environmentally permitted, primary cobalt project in the United States, the ICP has the potential to become a reliable and transparent source of supply for the growing cobalt market. The project is 100% owned by eCobalt's wholly-owned subsidiary, Formation Capital Corporation, U.S.

Over $135M has been invested into the project to-date - from greenfields exploration to pre-construction – de-risking project execution. Commercial production is expected in 2021. With eCobalt's significant land position in the historic Idaho Cobalt Belt, which produced ~2M tonnes of cobalt from the 1940s - 1960s but has not seen any modern day production, the ICP presents a district-scale opportunity with substantial upside potential. Currently, ~120,000 tonnes of cobalt is produced in the world per year. The market for cobalt is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.7% over the next 5 years, tripling by 2030, primarily due to growing demand for electric vehicles. Countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom and China have vowed to ban Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) over the course of the next 10 to 20 years, making way for new renewable and more environmentally-friendly energy sources, such as the lithium-ion batteries that use cobalt, and which power electric vehicles and rechargeable batteries like those found in mobile phones.
