Building North America's Next Primary Cobalt Mine

Company Overview

eCobalt (TSX: ECS) (OTCQX: ECSIF) (FRA: ECO) is an advanced-stage development company with near-term primary cobalt production. Our Idaho Cobalt Project ("ICP") is located in the historic Idaho Cobalt Belt, near the town of Salmon in east-central Idaho. As the only environmentally permitted primary cobalt project in the United States, the ICP has the potential to become a reliable and transparent source of supply for the growing cobalt market. The project is 100% owned by eCobalt's wholly-owned subsidiary, Formation Capital Corporation, U.S.

Over $135M has been invested into the project to-date - from greenfields exploration to pre-construction – de-risking project execution. With eCobalt's significant land position in the historic Idaho Cobalt Belt, which produced ~2M tonnes of cobalt from the early to mid 1900s, the ICP presents a district-scale opportunity with substantial upside potential. Currently, ~120,000 tonnes of cobalt is produced in the world per year. The market for cobalt is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.7% over the next 5 years, tripling by 2030, primarily due to growing demand for electric vehicles. Countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom and China have vowed to ban Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) over the course of the next 10 to 20 years, making way for new renewable and more environmentally-friendly energy sources, such as the cobalt-containing lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles and mobile phones. In February 2019, in response to current cobalt market conditions the Company announced that it is imposing cost control measures throughout the organization to preserve its treasury while it focuses on critical path items needed to bring the ICP into production. These include securing off-take and finalizing the new Feasibility Study. Work at the ICP will focus on activities required to maintain the site and comply with the approved Plan of Operations, with the objective of re-commencing project development when full project financing is secured.
